We produced this piece for the Trust for Public Land in a partnership with The Friends of the QueensWay. The QueensWay is a community led effort to transform a blighted, 3.5 mile stretch of abandoned railway in Central Queens into a family-friendly linear park and cultural greenway. The plan to reuse this property as a an iconic park will spark economic and cultural development and improve the quality of life and environment of the adjacent communities.

The Trust of Public Land
Case Study

Ecodeo produced this piece for The Trust for Public Land for a campaign to protect NY Harbors and its wetlands. Wetland systems proved critical in protecting Staten Island communities during 2012’s Hurricane Sandy by providing a natural buffer from the rising waters. The Trust for Public Land is currently working as quickly as possible to identify and acquire more lands in Staten Island in order to expand a network of wetlands which can help absorb the impact of large storms and protect communities.

Picture a world where the streets of cities and suburbs are free of cars. Transit X is a safe, sustainable, low-cost mass transit alternative is 100% solar powered, carbon free, ​with​ zero emissions. Solar panels on the track provide the energy to power electric pods. Transit X is an automated ​pod network with the cost, capacity, and convenience to supplant cars, buses, trains and trucks. With Transit X, passengers travel in pods suspended from a narrow track. Pods carry up to five passengers. Special pods carry wheelchairs and freight. Tracks run alongside existing roads and highways, so Transit X is minimally disruptive to cities’ existing infrastructure.

Students Helping Honduras

This video’s goal was to appeal to US college students to come to Honduras to volunteer and help create access to quality education and jobs while helping to end extreme poverty and violence. Honduras has the worst gang epidemic on the planet where 66% of the population live in extreme poverty. Students Helping Honduras aims to reach out to 1,000 villages and build 1000 schools, extra classrooms or restoration of their old schools. Since this video was made, schools, homes and communities have continued to be built, season after season.

Ecodeo produced this piece to showcase the work of The Backpack Farm Agriculture Program (BPF) which is an all-in-one backpack product packaged with all the essential, green agri-tech needed by smallholder farmers. BPF standardizes both the quality and quantity of agriculture production during an annual growing season, to mirror semi-commercial rates of production. Discarded in heaps along roadsides and riverbanks, rice husks are considered waste in many countries heavily dependent on rice as a staple product. However, the Center for Rice Husk Technology (CRHET) has created a rice husk gasifier stove that uses rice husks to provide clean and low-cost fuel. It’s a great sustainable fuel and heat solution for rural communities. Ecodeo produced this piece when CRHET won the Katerva Sustainable Energy and Power award in 2012/2013.
